Piano virtuoso Harmony Zhu to join Orlando Philharmonic as featured Genius of Youth Artist


(Thursday, January 17, Orlando, FL) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra FAIRWINDS Classics Series continues with Beethoven’s 7th on Saturday, February 23 at 8 p.m. at Bob Carr Theater. Joining the Orlando Philharmonic is Guest Conductor Pablo Rus Broseta and featured pianist and Genius of Youth Artist, Harmony Zhu.


A happy girl with multiple talents, 12-year-old Harmony Zhu has been featured on CBC News, NPR’sFrom the Top, as well as NBC’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show many times for her exceptional gifts in piano, composition, and chess. In recognition of her “distinguished career in music” and “the high standard in artistic and professional achievements”, Harmony had the privilege of becoming the youngest “Young Steinway Artist” in history at age 10. Zhu will perform Robert Schumann’s colorful piano concerto, composed for and dedicated to his wife, notable 19th century pianist Clara Wieck Schumann.


Pablo Rus Broseta is Associate Conductor of the Seattle Symphony and Music Director of the Jove Orquestra de la Generalitat Valenciana. In 2011, he founded the Spanish Chamber Orchestra Grup Mixtour, which he still directs today. There, he aims to revitalize concert experiences through eclectic programming of music from different eras and with diverse aesthetics.
