ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2019) — Orlando Science Center invites you to celebrate President’s Day weekend with special programming from February 15 to 18. Enjoy a shockingly fun Tesla Coil Show, explore the ultimate flight exhibition at Above and Beyond presented by Boeing and enjoy extended hours on Friday and Saturday with Star-Studded Evenings. A President’s Day break camp will be held for students in grades K–5 on Monday as well.
Back by popular demand, experience the Tesla Coil Show on February 16 and 17 at 1:15 p.m. Learn about the history of the “current wars” and discover how a Tesla Coil can become a musical instrument in this interactive show. During Star-Studded Evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on February 15 and 16, exhibits will be closed but our Observatory and theatre will be open for guests to explore the wonders of the night sky and see popular films, Christopher Robin and Hidden Figures.
Blast off in Above and Beyond presented by Boeing, the newest traveling exhibit to land at Orlando Science Center. Celebrate the greatest accomplishments in aviation, spread your wings and fly, take an elevator to space and participate in the live science show “So, You Wanna Be An Astronaut?”
For those who would like a quieter experience, Sensory Sunday will be offered February 17 from 9:00to 11:00 a.m. Sensory Sunday provides visitors with quieter volume settings and lower lighting in select exhibit halls and film showings.

Plus, SunRail is running on President’s Day! Take the SunRail to the AdventHealth Station and enjoy special programming from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite U.S. president and ride for free with a paid, accompanying adult.  Visit SunRail’s website for ticket prices, train schedules and more information.

All President’s Day programming is included with admission to Orlando Science Center which is free for members, $20.95 for adults, $18.95 for seniors and students, and $14.95 for youth (ages 3 – 11).  After 5:00 p.m. when exhibit halls close admission for Star-Studded Evenings is $10.00 for all ages and free for children 2 and under.

Mayor Jerry L. Demings to Host Orange County Regional Economic Summit on March 29 at Convention Center

 

WHAT: Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, in collaboration with Orlando Economic Partnership, will host the 2019 Orange County Regional Economic Summit on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Orange County Convention Center, North Concourse from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.The event is free and open to the public.

Mayor Demings will provide the keynote remarks featuring a video, Voices of the Region, which will highlight representatives from local small business and entrepreneurial programs. Mayor Demings will also participate in a panel discussion titled “Regional Topics and Vision” along with CEO & President of the Orlando Economic Partnership Tim Giuliani, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Seminole County Chair Brenda Carey, Osceola County Chair Cheryl Grieb and Lake County Chair Leslie Campione.

Sean Snaith, Ph.D., director of the University of Central Florida Institute for Economic Competitiveness, willpresent his annual economic update. Snaith is a nationally recognized economist in the field of business and economic forecasting.
