Recovering from the Storm
My heart and prayers go out to everyone in Central Florida trying to recover from the impacts of Hurricane Irma. Just like many businesses and residents, the Clerk’s Office is also still trying to fully recover to be able to take care of your needs when you conduct business with us.
Many of our locations also lost power and a few of them including the courthouse had some water intrusion. But most of our sites are up and running again, and our deputy clerks are here to help you to make payments, obtain your marriage license, file an injunction and take care of court filings.
When our offices are closed, remember you can always view public court documents online for free from our website http://www.myorangeclerk.com. You can also pay traffic tickets from our website any time day or night. We also will keep you up to date about closures through our website and social media pages.
There are a lot of people in our state devastated by this storm, and the American Red Cross has an urgent need for volunteers and donations. Go to http://www.redcross.org/volunteer/become-a-volunteer if you can assist.
Legal Forum: Access to Justice Workshop
One of my top priorities is to increase access to justice while providing exceptional customer service for our citizens, and recently my office has been ramping up initiatives tailored to do just that. We are expanding our efforts to reach customers directly out in the community.
On November 2nd, we will be hosting our next Legal Matters: Access to Justice Workshop in partnership with the Orange County Bar Association right in the city of Apopka. With an official launch of the Self Help Services coming soon to Apopka, we plan to use this forum to highlight our continued partnership with the Orange County Bar Association and how the Self Help Center can assist customers in navigating small claims matters, divorces or evictions. Partnerships like the one we have with the Orange County Bar Association will continue to positively impact our community.
